Doing some research today as I am wanting to better my understanding of mice (and I'm a nerd and enjoy studying ) when I came upon this (the part I'm asking about is coloured blue) :
I didn't need to do this with my previous litter (I'm still new to breeding only having had one litter, I would like to know before future litters are born)...all male brothers were quite happy together until they went to their new homes where owners kept them separately. No fighting or biting was witnessed by me (but of course I wasn't able to constantly monitor them) and nor were there any bite or scratch marks on any bubs. Then again the babies sold very fast and I didn't have to keep any boys over 6 weeks of age.
I was wondering what those who breed do? Do you separate all 4 week+ males until they are ready for new homes, keep them in one colony, or?
Thank you

Once the males are 4 weeks of age, they need to be taken away from the group to prevent unwanted breeding (to the mom and the sisters). Also note that males often need to be separated from each other at that time. Male mice, especially those from pet shop mice and lines that haven't been *thoroughly* tracked, will fight to the death. Even siblings will fight 99% of the time. Fighting usually happens without ANY notice what so ever and at night, when their caregiver(s) are not around to separate them. Fighting to the death is quick and usually completely unpredictable/unpreventable without separating them all at 4 weeks.
