Hello my name is Margo I live in Tassie ( which is really hot right but it could change in a moment ). Many years ago I kept mice as a hobby usually brought form local pet shops. I would like to keep some mice again, and the fancy mice are just what I'am looking for. I have looked around at the types of fancy mice I like and they are the Siamese colour long or short coat. And the rex long hair. Being in Tassie I know it is hard to access mice but if you know of any breeders that would be happy to send me some. pls let me know ( I am a really nice lady and would love and care for the little ones sent to me). I live about 20 from Hobart in a country area just me and my better half plus 2 Tibetan spaniels and 3 cats who rule the roost ( I promise to keep the cats away I have a special room set aside for the mice No Cats Allowed !!!!!!!.

Hi Margo, welcome to the forum I hope you are able to find a breeder in Tassie! If not freight is always an option, although it is an expensive one. Good luck!

Its it possible to bring some mice over when come If they are old enough. a buck and about 3 does would be a dream come true. on another topic what sort of bedding / nesting material is the best to use on the floors of the cages. I have read that paper is ok, What kinds of paper ?,does this include newspaper as I not sure about the ink. We don't have a lot of choice here mostly a wood type product looks a bit dusty to me.

Unfortunately I can't bring any with me I'm going on a cruise so don't think I can smuggle them on the boat lol. I use breeders choice cat litter for my mice it is a recycled paper litter. How many mice are you after? might be good to wait until you can get all the varieties you want. I can ship but wouldn't do so until this weather cools down a bit

Just looking at the Siamese long or short coat for the time being. 1 male and 3 to 4 does. i'am starting off very small, later I will look into other varieties.
I think Sydney has a show in April I would like to go to the show have a look at all the different kinds and then think about what other varieties to look at. Yes you poor things sure have had some hot weather. We haven't really down here even if we have a hot day or two it changes very quickly. most of the summer it sits mid to low 20c. I say I hate this but I really don't cope with extreme heat.

I will see how the litter turns out and let you know. Do you want me to reserve them for you? I am happy to ship when the weather cools down a bit. On another note what sights to you recommend seeing whilst in Hobart? We will be there for two nights.

What do you like to do? are you into bush walking, wine, history, food,. let me know. hi Andy had a think about the places to visit. Port Arthur is a must along the way to Port Arthur is Eagle Hawk Neck has lovely beaches and some very interesting blow holes very pretty place. Richmond is a great place to visit lot of winery's along the way, Richmond is a cosy place lot of historical bits and pieces. Mt Wellington has lot of lovely walks. and the view to great from the top. Mona is a museum short drive or ferry from Hobart cool place to visit. If you are driving, a nice day trip is South of Hobart, along the Channel to Cygnet, a very nice country town, to Huonville and back to Hobart, via Mount Wellington... Also, are you near Sharon from Mousekateers as I'm have ordered a couple of mice from her and 1 from her friend Kath. Sharon will be sending the mice done later, when it's cooler. Any chance of connecting your mice with Sharon's so they come down in one plane ride? Take care, Marg
