I learned about the mouse plague that Australian farmers have been dealing with. The one thing I noticed when seeing these reports is that I did not see any farm cats that are common on US farms. In the US farm cats commonly roam farms. They are not domestic cats, but at some point in their line were domesticated but escaped into the wild and reproduced. In the US I have never heard of there ever being a mouse plague, but I know there are more natural predators. I thought that maybe introducing farm cats to Australian farms might solve the problem over the long term. Obviously it won't save this years crop, but maybe over time it would provide a natural predator for the mice that are causing these plagues. Please comment if you are a farmer dealing with this, or if you just want me off this forum.
